Jolandra-
Interesting topic. It is one that I have not been familiarized with. I look forward to learning more about it as the quarter continues.
Kassidy
Jolandra,
As you know, this topic is close to my heart. I enjoyed your paper and I know that I will enjoy reading more about digital storytelling as you progress. I look forward to collaborating with you about digital storytelling ideas and resources.
Cynthia
Jolandra.
I have told you before that this is a topic that I am unfamiliar with. I do like how you have addressed with me the possibility of using this at the high school level, not just elementary.
Erin
Well ladies. This is a work in progress. I have begun to develop the storyboard in a PowerPoint presentation. I may change my presentation in the future to a different media. But for now, take a look and let me know what you think.
Jolandra,
This is a good start! It seems that you have gathered some information so far! I think incorporating some examples would be a good idea to do. Just a thought =)
Erin
Jolandra- good start. I agree with Erin that you may want to incorporate some examples. But overall I believe this is a very interesting topic that I would have never thought about, so I am glad you did.
Kassidy
Thanks Erin and Kassidy. I know it was a rough draft. I actually prefer to use Movie Maker. I want to make it much better for the end presentation. I have a lot of research. It is just not easy deciding what should and should not be included. I will include examples as you stated. Thanks again.
-Jolandra
Jolandra,
I think you have good start. When you choose your examples, I would lean more towards those that incorporate the use of digital storytelling in reading, language arts, and mathematics classes. If there is any link between the digital storytelling and student achievement, that seems to help with the diffusion of technology because of NCLB and AYP. Check out this article in Technology & Learning (June 2008) "Telling Stories with Technology."
~Angela
Angela,
Thanks for your suggestions. I will take a look at the article and let you know of my findings.
-Jolandra
Below is the continuation of my work in progress. Please be advised, I posted a discussion posting on the home page about the delay in this post. I look forward to additional feedback. I will be adding verbal content for the final presentation.
Jolandra,
I really like the videos examples that you provided. Wow, digital storytelling has an extensive history! I would consider adding more examples of digital storytelling in the curriculum. Great job!
~Angela
Angela,
I started gathering the research on that. The next empty slide was where I was headed with it. I was considering focusing on one level like elementary setting because that is my work experience. What do you think? Thanks for the feedback.
-Jolandra
Jolandra,
I like the specific details you provide about the beginning of this innovation. It's neat to see how it grew so big after an idea that was so small. Nice work!
Erin
Erin,
It is amazing what the research revelas. I thought this innovation started more recent too.
-Jolandra
Jolandra,
Hi. I see that you and Erin discussed the origin of digital storytelling and the fact that it began earlier than you had anticipated. I am having the same results with virtual field trips and digital media. I have traced the research back to the mid 1990's; however, I don't know for sure if that is the actual beginning or not. I am still working on it. I love your presentation and information. This subject interests me greatly as a library media specialist....I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Cynthia
Jolandra-
I think that for some of the newer innovations such as digital storytelling and cell phones are difficult to find timeline information for because they are still relatively new in the field of education. Keep working hard and I will see what I can dig up to find for you as well.
Kassidy
Below is week 6 updated presentation. I am still adding information where you see blank or incomplete slides. I look forward to your feedback about the S-curve. I notice people do them using different sets of data. I was not sure which point of view was best.
Jolandra,
Nice job! I like the second chart that you put in your presentation because of the years and types of adoption. It might be good just to explain a couple to understand the progression of the s-curve (where is accelerates and where it levels off). Keep up the good work!
Erin
Jolandra,
I really like how you show the adoption of the innovation by different organizations. Do you have the number of members of the organizations? You might consider plotting the year on the x-axis because it is independent and the organizations with the member numbers on the y-axis.
Angela
Jolandra,
I agree with Angela. I like the S curve you included. The second one you made is very easy to read and since I am so interested in digital storytelling, the individual adoption is great for me! I think you are doing well. Keep up the good work!
Cynthia
Thanks ladies for the feedback. I am really learning a lot from this process and the research. I am glad we are developing the presentation like this because the feedback is so valuable to me. Erin, I thought about deeper explanation but was not sure if it was necessary. Thanks for that clarification. Angela, I will go back and locate those stats. They can be useful in modifying my graph.
-Jolandra
Jolandra-
I really like the fact that it is so easy to understand. I think you are working toward a project that many of us are going to want to steal. Keep it up!
Kassidy
Below is week 7 updated presentation. I am working hard to get caught up from my week away. I look forward to your feedback. Stay tuned for week 8.
Below is week 8 updated presentation. I think I am finally all caught up. I used slideshare to make it flow like a movie but there are not sounds yet and I still have some kinks to work out as you will see. It is still a work in progress. I look forward to your feedback.
Below is week 9 updated presentation. I am still missing that final slide that really drives the point home. I am not sure what it should say. How do I make it convince others. I have listed the facts and told the benefits, but I need that last things to make it complete. But please review and provide some feedback. Thanks ladies.
My suggestion for the conclusion is just to make it as heart-felt as possible. State the reason why you are so interested in this particular innovation and the rest should come naturally =)
Erin
Thanks Erin. I just viewed your final pages. This helped me see what I should have done. I am taking this feedback and applying it for sure!
-Jolandra
Jolandra- I think it is looking good. If you are having any other problems please don't hesitate to ask for help!

Final Presentation - Week 11
I have had major technical problems trying to upload my presentation. The final results still has some glitches but I am not sure how to fix them. I posted three documents: the powerpoint, the transcript, and several links for the presentation. As you can see, I tried various sites with no complete success. i thought I post all of them. Please view my work and provide me with feedback. I have so valued the feedback throughout this course. I wish all of you must sucess throughout the rest of your Walden career. I especially pray for good health to those that were struggling with health concerns. Be blessed! Jolandra
Jolandra- Is there any sound? I went to the ispring and that page doesn't work so then I went to google docs, but can hear anything. Just wondering if I am looking at the right thing.
Kassidy
Here it is in a show. Take a look and tell me what you think. Still working on the upload.
Jolandra
Jolandra- the information is fabulous! I only wish I could have seen it as you intended. Wonderful work, and like I have said before, it would be my pleasure to help you figure out the technological gliches. Just let me know.
Kassidy
Jolandra,
You know how much I love this topic! There is a lot of information that I didn't know about! I am very anxious for you to get your upload finished! I want to see everything as you intended, too! Please email me if class is over before you get it posted. I will keep in touch with you as time goes by! You can email me at cynthia.harrison2009@gmail.com
Cynthia
Jolandra,
You did a great job of bringing awareness to digital storytelling. This is an idea that I had not even heard of prior to this course. I would love to see the video presentation of the project. Please email me the final project.
Angela
Thank you ladies. I have search several site and sited up. I even paid for a site but none of them could download the powerpoint with sound. It was very frustrating. But because of this, I did suffer in my grade. I think I will try to redo the work and post it. I don't care if the grade is never changed, I really want to know how to do this correctly. I do not feeling defeated. I will email you when I get it done..if I get it working properly. I truly enjoyed working with you all. Take care ladies and good luck in all your other coursework.
Jolandra
Jolandra,
Do not be hard on yourself! I think you and I had a similar understanding of what the project was to be =) You did an excellent job to share knowledge about an innovation that is not well known and have made me a fan! Excellent!
Erin
Welcome to my page. I look forward to discussion responses and collaborative teamwork in this wiki. Below is the my paper. Enjoy!
